Dave Fair, PhD, spent over 25 years in crisis chaplaincy; he has deployed to such catastrophic events as Ground Zero following 9/11, the Columbia Space Shuttle Disaster, the Fort Hood shootings, and several hurricanes including Katrina and Ike. He most recently deployed twice to Haiti following their devastating January 2010 earthquake.
Dr. Fair, a licensed peace officer, volunteer firefighter, and retired emergency medical technician, has served as a hospital, law enforcement, fire/rescue, EMS, mental health, homeland security, and military chaplain. He works extensively with those suffering from PTSD and other trauma-related issues.
Fair holds a PhD from Bethel Bible College and Seminary, and a doctorate from Central Christian University. He is a faculty member of the Wayne E. Oates Institute. He is also Chair of the American Board for Certified Master Chaplains, serves on the curriculum committee of the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security (ABCHS), and is a member of the editorial review board of and writes a chaplaincy column for Inside Homeland Security®. Chaplain Fair holds certifications in CHS-V, CPT, SSIC, CDP, CHSEMR, and CRC.
Fair has written numerous courses for the ABCHS as well as dozens of articles and a book.
He is retired as a city councilman, municipal judge, MHMR trustee, and is a member of the Board of Scientific and Professional Advisors for the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress/ National Center for Crisis Management and is a former board member for the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology and the International Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.
